Forrest Richard Tharp

Forrest Richard Tharp, fondly known as Sonny, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, August 26, 2016.

He was born on October 12, 1943 to Forrest and Fannie Tharp in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He attended Webster High School. He met the love of his life, Brenda Montgomery in 1963 and married on February 3, 1967. Together they had two sons, Scott and Steve and from there, gained ten grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Sonny, better known as Lucky, by his brother iron workers, was well liked and respected by all that knew and worked with him. He began his career as an iron worker and was a proud member of the Local 584 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He worked for Bennett Steel for 28 years and finished his final 10 years as a project coordinator for the company.

Sonny was a devoted husband, dad, papaw, and friend. You would see him at races, wrestling matches, all types of sporting events, and standing by your side through the good and bad.
He survived by his wife, Brenda, of the home, sons, Scott Tharp and his wife Christy of Glenpool, Oklahoma, Steve Tharp and his wife Heather of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Hailye and husband Jacob Vaughn, Ashlyn Tharp, Ethan Tharp, Hayden Tharp, Addison Tharp, Forrest Tharp, Lucas Tharp, Chance Smith, Bailey Smith, Mason Smith; great-granddaughter, Kadence Vaughn; brother-in-law, William Montgomery and his wife Kay, Roger Montgomery and his wife Lisa, cousin, Shirley and her husband Richard, and many cousins. He also left friends too numerous to count and many of those he considered family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Fannie Tharp.

He was one of the most humble and honest men, there has ever been. We are so blessed that God chose us to be his family and be a part of his life. His body is absent, but he is all around us in things we see and how we live our lives.

Visitation is from 5p.m. to 8p.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Schaudt's Funeral Service Chapel, 719 E. 141st. Street, Glenpool, Oklahoma 74033.

Funeral service is planned for Wednesday 2:00p.m. on August 31, 2016, at Faith Church, 1901 W. 171st St. South, Glenpool, Oklahoma 74033. Reverend Jason Cowen will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Bixby Cemetery, 151st & Sheridan, Bixby, Oklahoma 74008.
