Flossie Gertrude (Ann)King
Ann was born Oct 17, 1923 to Claude and Gertrude Sallee Hotchkiss. She was the fourth of six children. She had many tales growing up with her brothers and sisters, all of whom remained close throughout their lives.
Ann began working in her teens to help support the family. They lived in many communities including Schulter, Mounds, Okmulgee, Beggs and Seminole, all in Oklahoma. In her later teens she moved on to Sapulpa, Oklahoma working for a time at Liberty glass. She then began working at McDonnell Douglas helping build the B24 Liberator Bombers. She was one of the original “Rosie the Riveters.” There she met Elmer Woodrow King and they married April, 27th, 1945. They were happily married until his death in August of 1983. For 38 years they were completely devoted to each other. From this union came three children: Sharyn, Debbie and David.
During their marriage they lived on a farm where she did many chores and especially loved canning vegetables. After her husbands death she began working at Walmart until her retirement. During her retirement she lived out her final years on the same farm where she and “Woody” made their home.
She was preceded in death by husband Elmer “Woody” King, brothers, Buck and Jack Hotchkiss, a great-grand-daughter, Amanda Kelley, and brother-in-law and sister Owen and Margret Condit.
She is survived by a brother Dale Hotchkiss and a sister Judy Bick. Her Children Sharyn Hundley and husband Tom, Debbie King, and David King, all of Claremore, OK. Grandchildren Amy Kelley and Husband Brian Lee of Chelsea, OK, Buck King and wife Becky of Woodward, OK, Tommy Hundley and wife Cherri of Claremore, OK, Jamie Bryant and husband Jeremy of Chelsea, OK, and Dustin King and wife Kristina of Chelsea, OK. Eleven great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be Saturday, August 5, 2017, 11:00AM at Cedar Point Church in Claremore with interment in Woodland Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service and Cremation Care.
