Flora "Ruth" Dowdy, age 101, passed away peacefully, on August 10, 2016 at Inverness Village in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Ruth was born on July 6, 1915 in Davis, Oklahoma to Elbert and Susie (Edgmon) McDonald. She graduated from Calvin High School in 1933 and went on to take some business college courses. Ruth married the love of her life, William Ralph Dowdy on October 2, 1938 in Wewoka, Oklahoma and had three children, her preceded her in death on May 31, 2006. At times during her life she worked at Texaco and was also in management at a plumbing company. But her main occupation was always a homemaker and mother. She enjoyed knitting, quilting, crocheting, handcrafts, gardening, bird watching, walking, but she will be remembered most as a loving mother and Gran Gran.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Susie McDonald, her husband, William Dowdy, and her two brothers.
She is survived by her children, Diane Rach of Calgary, Canada, Roberta Hooper and her husband Don of Fletcher, Oklahoma and Alan Dowdy of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation is planned for Friday, August 12, 2016 from 5-8p.m. at Schaudt's Funeral Service, 719 E. 141st Street, Glenpool, OK 74033.
Graveside Service will be held on Saturday at 2:00p.m, August 13, 2016 at Holdenville Cemetery. Reverend Gary Volz will be officiating.
