Everett John Sellers (EJ) was born on August 26, 1934 in Figure Five, Arkansas, to Julia & JV Sellers. EJ married Sue Sellers, his wife of 65 years on October 11, 1954. On July 2, 2019 at 10:30am, EJ stepped into the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ, and was reunited with the love of his life, Sue, who proceeded him in death just two short months ago.
EJ spent most of his adult life in the furniture business in Fort Smith, Arkansas. In the 1950's he played baseball for a professional team who was a farm team for the Washington Senators. EJ possessed a great bass voice, sang in many quartets and was the choir director at Cavanaugh Free Will Baptist Church for several years.
Among many talents and passions, building blue bird houses became a favorite of his where he donated boxes for youth fundraisers at Crossroads Church and made many for friends & family.
EJ was well known for his wonderful sweet and friendly disposition. He was always interested in talking to people within earshot and enjoyed singing a gospel song when he heard a phrase in the conversation that reminded him of a particular one. Music was always a big part of EJ's life. He first met Sue at a revival where she was singing "the special" that night, and they continued singing together in choirs, quartets and duets. EJ had a love for the harmonica and was known to pull it out of his shirt pocket for an impromptu concert. He loved to use his harmonica talent to make others smile.
EJ is preceded in death by his father, JV Sellers, his mother, Julia Sellers Duncan, his brothers Leon & Virgil, and sister, Avon.
EJ is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Susan & Karl Bode of Tulsa; brother Donald Sellers of Van Buren, Arkansas and son Paul.
EJ gave his life to Jesus Christ at a young age and he lived his life with purpose. He used his gifts and talents for the Lord. The joy he
possessed came from his relationship with Christ. He will be remembered for his Godly example and love for people.
