Esther Jeannette Eyestone, age 88, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at Hillcrest Medical Center, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Esther was born in Washington County, Iowa to Wynn Eyestone and Edna (Godfrey) Eyestone. She graduated from high school and worked as a stenographer in the public service field until retirement. She moved to Oklahoma coming from Denver, Colorado in 2005. Esther resided at University Village. Esther sewed quilt tops in a ladies group that made blankets for the Battered Women's Shelter in Denver. She enjoyed playing scrabble and doing jigsaw puzzles in her free time.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Wynn and Edna Eyestone one brother: Wilbur Eyestone and her sister: Flora Walker (June 15, 2006).
Esther Eyestone is survived by one sister: Eleanor Trummel of Iowa City, Iowa; her brother in-law: John Walker of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four nieces: Liz Curtis of California; Barbara Anderson of Colorado; Esther Fellows and her husband, Jim of Mounds, Oklahoma; Helen Konowitz and her husband, Gary of San Anselmo, California; her five nephews: David Walker and his wife, Kay of Jonesboro, Georgia; Keith Trummel and Bruce Trummel both from California; Wilbur A. Eyestone and wife, Deb of Des Moines, Iowa and Richard Eyestone of Grinnell.
Graveside services will be on Monday, April 2, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell, Iowa.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at University Village Theater located at 8555 S. Lewis, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Chaplain Merle Newton will officiate.
