Elsie “Babe” Howard, a long time Henryetta business woman, passed away on January 7, 2009 in Glenpool, OK. She operated restaurants for over 50 years in the old Georgian Hotel and City Café. Babe and her twin sister, M.C. Webb, were born in Tennessee on April 27, 1915. She was married to Tom Howard for over 60 years. Tom passed away in 1990. Tom and Babe were long time members of the First Christian Church in Henryetta. Babe was preceded in death by her twin sister, M.C., and her twin sister’s husband, William Clarence Webb, and her brother, Robert Taylor. Survivors include a son, Richard Howard and wife, LaVerne of Beggs; granddaughter Susan Howard Willis and husband Roy and son Mike Howard and wife Sharon of Tulsa, OK; daughter Marie Howard Ingram of Madison, Mississippi, and Marie’s three sons and their wives: Steve and Brenda, Stan and Terri, and Jim and Janice, all of Madison, Mississippi; Babe’s sister, M.C.’s daughter Shirley and husband Allen Baker of Palm Desert, California; along with 19 Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren. Services for Babe will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 in the Shurden Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00am with Reverend Kris Denning officiating. She will be buried by her husband at the Westlawn Cemetery.
