Elmer Levi Sands, Jr.

Elmer Levi "Junior" Sands age 66 passed away July 6, 2011 at his Glenpool residence with his loving family members beside him. Junior was born in West Columbia, Texas on February 15, 1945 to Elmer Sands and Marie E. (Atteberry) Sands. He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1963, attended college and then met the love of his life, Karen Ann Yates. They were joined in matrimony on April 1, 1966. Junior retired from ODOT (Oklahoma Department of Transportation) as an Assistant Resident Engineer/Bridge Inspector in 1995. Then worked for the private industry as an inspector and worked in Quality control of construction materials. In his spare time Junior liked to tinker, do wood working and collect model trucks. He was a member of Faith Church in Glenpool, Oklahoma. Junior was preceded in death by his parents: Elmer and Marie Sands. Brothers: Doug Sands and Hiram 'Buddy' Sands and his wife,Joyce. Brothers-in laws Glenn Martin and Frank Drummond. He is survived by his wife: Karen of Glenpool; his sons: Kevin Sands and his wife, Ganece of Tulsa, Jason Sands and his wife, Jennifer of Glenpool, his daughter: Cynthia Dunsmore and her husband, Mark of Tulsa; his brother: Paul Sands and his wife, Patty; his sisters: Evelyn "Sis" Martin, Erna Drummond, Sister n Law Wanda Sands; his precious grandchildren: Carrie, Britney, Jacob, Emma, Brandon and Levi, (His first great grandchild is due in January) along with other family members, friends and acquaintances. Visitation is 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Schaudt's Funeral Home in Glenpool. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2011 at Faith Church, Glenpool, Oklahoma. Reverend Toby Youngblood will officiate. Pallbearers are: Rick Jackson, Pat Hayne, Tom Stiff, Jason Cowan, LeRoy James and Marty Cox.
