Elizabeth Ilene Vickrey passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at the age of 78 at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, surrounded by her children.
She was born in a small wood frame house in Jenks, Oklahoma on September 8, 1944, the fourth of five children to Lester and Marie Neafus. She grew up near her old birth home and attended Jenks High School where she met lifelong friends and her soon to be husband, Ronald (Ray) Vickrey. They were married a short time later in 1961 at a small courthouse in Miami, Oklahoma and moved to Warner, OK. Not long after their first daughter Rhonda was born Ray enrolled in Conner's State College. After Ray graduated they moved to the corner of 101st and Memorial and lived in a small mobile home behind Fannies Drive In (Rays Mom). While there they had their second daughter, Kathrine.. In 1966 they relocated back to the original area beside her birth home in Jenks and built the home of her dreams on the family property. Several years later their third child, James, was born. Elizabeth lived on that same piece of property until her death.
Elizabeth was a full time homemaker and mother who volunteered countless hours at Jenks schools and getting her children from place to place. She also enjoyed hobbies like working in her flower beds, home improvement projects and a couple years of square dancing. Elizabeth went by several names, Libby and Liz to name a few but the most important names were Mom and Grandma. She dedicated her life to being the babysitter to her grandchildren before they were old enough to go to school and even several years later preparing after school meals for them. She loved her family like no other and poured everything she had into her 3 kids, 6 grandchildren and 2 great children. They were all her pride and joy and she loved everyone unconditionally.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents Lester Neafus and Marie Neafus, brother Richard Neafus, sister Margret Ray and grandson Taylor Jones.
