Eleanor Julia McCutchen, 97, Tulsa resident, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday April 11, 2018. Eleanor was born August 26, 1920 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to her parents, Frederick M. Haynes and Gussie (Tuttle) Haynes.
Eleanor grew up in Edmonton where she met her husband Klahre Dale McCutchen at the U.S. War Department in Canada. She and Klahre lived in all areas of North America, including Washington, DC; Libertyville, Illinois; Pass Christian, Mississippi; Calgary, Alberta; Manhattan Beach, California; and Tulsa, Oklahoma. She raised five children, and met and mentored thousands of friends around the country.
Eleanor was an accomplished artist who enjoyed doing oil paintings, water colors, sketches and drawings. Her beautiful paintings include scenery, still-life, and portraits. Her painting styles provide memorable images of brilliantly composed artwork. She brought to the canvas her memories of life, beauty, warmth, mood and color.
She had a variety of vocations and careers during her rich life, including teaching high school business classes, executive secretary, office manager, copy editor; and retiring after a long career as a legal secretary. Throughout her life she taught in a wide variety of Protestant churches as a teacher and executive leader. For the last decade she was a bible study teacher and a member of the Rose Hill Covenant Church in Tulsa.
Eleanor was rooted in her faith in the Bible and her Savior, Jesus Christ. She spent a lifetime studying the Bible. She was an amazing teacher of the gospel. She was a living example of a life well-lived. She displayed grace, love, forgiveness, positivity, caring, and leadership. She was a powerful prayer-partner to hundreds of family and friends. As the matriarch leader of a growing family, she molded family traditions and was the moral and spiritual beacon for everyone in her sphere of influence.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Gussie Haynes; husband, Klahre D. McCutchen; brothers, Frederick M. Haynes, Jr; Arthur S. Haynes, Robert A. Haynes; and son, John F. McCutchen.
Eleanor leaves many loving memories and family-traditions with her family; sons, Robert J. McCutchen, Richard D. McCutchen and wife Janice, Donald B. McCutchen and wife Eleanore; daughter, Janet E. Conrad and husband, Robert; grandchildren, Jason Fiscus and wife Samantha, Bryan Conrad, Richard McCutchen, Jr., Chris Willis, Rebecca Fudge and husband Philip, Kathleen Starkey, and John M. Conrad and wife Davaughn. Also surviving: great-grandchildren, Hannah Fiscus, Aaron Fiscus, Emily Fudge, Allison Fudge, Thomas Fudge, Josiah Starkey, Tessa Starkey, Ava Conrad, Jane Conrad and Max Conrad; as well as many other loving relatives.
Funeral Service will be 10:00 am Saturday April 21, 2018 at Schaudt-Tulsa Funeral Service Chapel, with Pastor Charles Jennings officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Jason Fiscus, John Conrad, Kathleen Starkey, Richard McCutchen, Jr., Rebecca Fudge, Chris Willis, and Bryan Conrad.
