Edwina Brazzle Freeman, a resident of Henryetta, was born on March 18, 1922 in Salina, LA to Tracy and Elva Fair. Edwina married Oliver Freeman on November 6, 1942 and moved to Henryetta in January of 1949. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Freeman, in 1980, and by her grandson, Thomas Ed Barner, in 1990. She is survived by daughters Linda Dudley and husband Jack of Henryetta, and Eugenia “Jeanie” Jackson and husband Bob of Henryetta; son Tom “Tommy” Freeman and wife Cathy of Shelby, NC; Stepson Charles Freeman of Houston, TX; Brothers, Hartwell Fair and Roy Fair of Louisiana; Sister Ivazene Toni of Louisiana; grandchildren, John Dudley and wife Jamie of Henryetta, Jonathan Freeman and wife Christina of Shelby, NC, Kim Conner and husband Chad of Shelby, NC, and Trina Williams of Shelby, NC; 8 Great Grandchildren, and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren. Edwina’s first employment in Henryetta was with Dan and Nellie Laughlin at Laughlin’s Grocery, then at the old Georgian Hotel, and from there to Jiffy Mart for many years where she worked for Jimmy and Jennifer Williams, and finished her working career with her daughter at Linda’s Clothing and Beauty Shop. Edwina will be greatly missed. Nothing can take the place of a mother who has always been so dedicated and supportive of her children. Visitation for Edwina will be on Thursday, December 31, 2009 from 5:00pm-8:00pm and on Friday, January 1, 2009 from 1:00pm-6:00pm. Services for Edwina are scheduled for Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 2:00pm at the Shurden Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jack Vance officiating. Burial will follow at the Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden Funeral Home of Henryetta.
