Edward Donald Taylor, a resident of Okmulgee, passed away Friday, April 6, 2012 at the age of 85. He was one of five children born November 4, 1926 to Henry Arthur and Ella C. (Lee) Taylor in Indianapolis, Indiana. Mr. Taylor served in the United States Navy as a Shipfitter during WWII and left the Navy in 1946. He was a volunteer firefighter in Indianapolis and won many medals. He was a Mason for 50 years and a lifetime member of the VFW where he joined in Indianapolis and transferred to Okmulgee in 1970, when he moved with his wife, Wanda, whom he married in 1970. They had 3 boys, whom he was very proud of and loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. He found the Lord while living in Beggs. He loved his Lord and looked forward to Sunday’s. He always had a smile and loved to joke and kid around. He will be missed dearly by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Everett, Norman and Willy Taylor, sister, Mavis Berry and granddaughter, Donna Sue Taylor. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Sue Taylor of the home; children, James D. and wife, June Taylor of Beggs, Donald G. and wife, Maudine Taylor of Mounds and David O. and wife, Gulden Taylor, who is in the U.S. Army; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and numerous other relatives. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at the Church of Christ Church in Okmulgee with Armando Gonzalez officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Navy. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee.
