Edna Lorene (Johnson) Shoeman passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at her home in Tulsa, OK. Edna was born December 30, 1943 in Lexington, OK, to Frank Robert and Willie Lorene (Greenway) Johnson.
Edna graduated from Norman High School and attended the University of Oklahoma. She graduated in 1965 with a bachelors degree in Library Science. She worked at the Baptist Student Union for 25 years and was a member of First Baptist Church in Norman. Edna retired in 2003 and moved to Tulsa in order to be close to family.
She spent many years volunteering in her daughter’s classroom at Jenks East Elementary School, where she was known simply as Nana. Her greatest joy was caring for her grandchildren. She loved to read and travel and often spent time in Dallas with her other daughter and grandchildren.
Edna is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Laturner Shoeman, Jr.; and brother, James Robert Johnson.
She is survived by her sister, Dorthy Hagerman of Tulsa, OK; her daughters, Audra Royal of Dallas, TX, and Rebecca Bordwine of Tulsa, OK; four grandchildren, Emily Royal and Jacob Royal all of Dallas, Texas, and Olivia Bowles and William Bordwine all of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Bearers will be Christopher Coburn, Kip Coburn, John Coburn, John Bordwine, Mike Royal and David Bowles.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to St. Francis Hospice in Tulsa, OK.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 PM, Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service. Services will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, September 12, 2016 at Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Norman, OK. Burial will be at Norman IOOF cemetery.
