The Legend of Eddie Bolden Thrasher: A Life Well-Laughed

On January 31, 2025, at the seasoned age of 80, Eddie Bolden Thrasher - affectionately known as E.B., Ed, Eddie, and, most honorably, Grandpa, passed away with his loving wife by his side.

Born on April 1, 1944 (yes, an April Fool's baby), in Alicia, Arkansas, to Bolden and Ruth Thrasher, Eddie entered the world with a twinkle in his eye. He graduated from Walnut Ridge High School in 1962 and was a lifelong Arkansas football fan. Soon after, on the Fourth of July weekend, he went on a blind date set up by his best friend at a swimming hole in Sapulpa, OK. He must've really made a splash because, just eight months later, he married the love of his life Donna (Hardesty) Thrasher at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Tulsa on January 3, 1964. That was the start of 61 years of marriage, filled with faith, family, fun and farming.

Eddie's favorite hobbies were bass fishing, beekeeping and playing with his grandkids. He could fix anything, from a broken appliance to a friend's bad mood, and never met a stranger. A hardworking man, Eddie spent his years providing for his family in every way imaginable. He worked at Telex, then spent 20 years as a machinist at McDonnell Douglas, where he proudly served as Union Steward of the UAW Local Chapter. He also sometimes worked three jobs to send all three kids to Catholic school - and somehow still found time to be the School Board President. His faith was as steady as his humor, and over the years, he was a devoted parishioner at Sacred Heart, St. Catherine's, and St. Mary's.

Speaking of his kids, Eddie leaves behind Robin Barré (Andy) of Knoxville, TN; Brook Durham (Robert) of Broken Arrow, OK; Bryan Thrasher (Susan) of Olathe, KS; and his sister Maedean Thrasher of Potosi, MO. His grandchildren - Faith, Liza, Pruitt, Alyssa, Danielle, Ethan, and Nick - will sorely miss their Grandpa's relentless teasing, tall tales, and the way he could talk his way out of anything (including speeding tickets).

Eddie was preceded in death by his siblings, Betty Hampton, Boyce Thrasher, and Danny Thrasher. No doubt they've already been greeted with a joke and an inside story about some childhood shenanigans.

For those who want to celebrate Eddie's life (and swap stories about his antics), a public viewing will be held from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Schaudt's Glenpool-Bixby Funeral Service.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the Church of Saint Mary in Tulsa, OK. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery immediately following the service.

The family suggests you honor Eddie in the best way possible: tell a joke, gently tease a loved one, donate to your favorite charity, or strike up a conversation with a stranger. Eddie wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

Rest easy, Grandpa. St. Peter better be ready for a good laugh, because Eddie's surely keeping things lively up there.

Arrangements are entrusted to Schaudt's Glenpool-Bixby Funeral Service, 1329 East 151st St. Glenpool, OK 74033. Family and friends may leave kind words of comfort, special memories and condolences to the family online at www.schaudtfuneralservice.com
