Ed passed away Saturday, November 10, 2018 at his home with his family by his side. He was 64.
Ed was born on June 2, 1954 to Mary Louise (Gaylor) McCarty and Henry Goodwin in Vinita, Oklahoma.
He graduated from Vinita High School in 1972, and then went into the working field after graduation.
In 1980, he met his future wife, Paula (Schnaare) Goodwin. Two years later the couple got married in Murphysboro, Illinois on August 7, 1982. Shortly after Ed and Paula got married, they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where they started their family.
The couple spent over 36 years together happily married. During those years, a lot of their time was spent at their property they had at Grand Lake, Oklahoma. It was one of Ed’s favorite places to spend time with his family.
He was employed as a Buyer at St. John’s Hospital, from where he retired.
Ed was known to be a funny guy and the king of all dad jokes. He had a friendly personality that lead him to never meet a stranger. Even though he was a homebody, he made sure to support and make all of his children’s sporting and musical performances when growing up. If Ed wasn’t cheering on his children, he was cheering on his favorite sports teams. He was a Boomer Sooner and Oklahoma City Thunder fan. Ed found enjoyment in just about anything he did. He participated in bowling leagues and played on tennis and beach volleyball teams. Among many other talents, Ed had two that he was truly passionate about, music and cooking. For many years he was in a garage band with some of his high school buddies. Ed was also an exceptional cook. His family knew him to be the king of breakfast. He loved food, cooking food, kitchen gadgets and watching cooking shows.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Louise (Gaylor) McCarty and her husband, Jim; father, Henry Goodwin and his stepmother, Mildred; and his cousin, Kathy Underwood.
