Eddie Earl Barger, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on December 29, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth that touched the hearts of all who knew him. Eddie was born on October 31, 1939 in Sallisaw, OK, and throughout his life, he exemplified the values of kindness, generosity, and a deep devotion to his family.
On July 18, 1970, Eddie married the love of his life, Norma Taylor. Their union was a testament to enduring love, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared experiences. Eddie was a loving and devoted husband, and his marriage of over five decades was a source of inspiration to those who knew them.
Eddie's love extended to his children: Donna (Jim) Robinson of Broken Arrow, OK; Larry (Denise) Barger of Salem, VA; Debbie (Jim) Megerson of Shawnee, KS; Lloyd (Angela) Lantz of Overland Park, KS; and James Lantz of Mission, KS. He was also a proud grandfather to 8 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 9 great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his brother Don (Mary) Barger of Sallisaw, OK; sister Doris Holman of Richmond, KS; and brother Jerry (Rose) Barger of Shawnee, KS. Eddie was preceded in death by his father, Barney Barger; mother, Irene Barger; brother, Joe Barger; and twin brother, Freddie Barger.
Eddie's professional journey led him to become a skilled barber and hairstylist in Kansas City, where he worked diligently from 1960 to 2004. Following his retirement in 2004, Eddie and Norma moved to Grove, Oklahoma, before settling in Coweta, OK, in 2019.
Eddie's joy in life was evident in his love for fishing, country line dancing, and spending quality time with friends and family. He had a compassionate heart, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Eddie's sense of humor, kindness, and the genuine joy he found in simple pleasures made him a beloved figure in the lives of those around him.
Eddie Barger will be remembered as a loving husband, a devoted father, and a friend to many. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of sharing in his warmth and laughter. He is loved and deeply missed by family and friends alike.
