In loving memory of Edgar Thomas Knoll
At 42 years old, Ed passed peacefully into the open arms of the Lord on Thursday, June 8th, 2017, following a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Ed was born on January 9th, 1975, to his parents, Marilyn and Hugh Knoll. He was one of five children. Originally from Indiana, the family relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1978. Ed graduated from Bishop Kelley High School in 1993 and continued on to the University of Tulsa, where he joined the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Sisters Katie Knoll and Sarah Nutt moved to Arkansas, where they currently live, and all three siblings were preceded in death by their father, Hugh Knoll, sister, Eileen, and brother, Jacob.
Ed’s passion for music, cultivated from a young age, led him in his career endeavors. He was a tremendous musician and played professionally with several bands in Tulsa. During the mid 90’s, Ed became the Sound Engineer and Tour Manager for a band called Caroline’s Spine, through which he traveled across the world and made lifelong friendships. As the band’s popularity and success grew, so did the bonds between them that would last until his final moments.
Ed ultimately translated his years of experience as a sound engineer into a successful17-year career with Ford Audio Video. In this time, as the head of their Bid Division, he contributed to the growth and success of the company as a highly respected team member and leader. He also devoted time to the worship services at Destiny Church Broken Arrow & Life Church.
Ed possessed a profound enthusiasm for life. He was an avid OU football fan, a musical guru, and a great chef. Always positive and lively, Ed had a warm, funny, and outgoing personality that was adored by all that knew him. His kindness and strength of character was evidenced by relationships that spanned across decades.
Above all, Ed was a good man who treasured time with those he loved most. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Laura Knoll, with whom he shared two beautiful children, Liam (11) and Asher (7). Ed and Laura were married in April of 2003 and moved into there first home together in Tulsa. They joyously welcomed Liam, their first-born son, in 2005. Asher, their second son, was brought into the world in 2009, following the building of their new home in Jenks. Between annual trips to Florida beaches and visiting family in Iowa, together they forged lasting memories and shared quality time filled with love and fun. They have spent precious moments together throughout the years with both family and friends over countless shared meals where he practiced his love of cooking, fishing trips with the boys, and music. It is this community of people who loved and were loved by Ed that can attest to the impact and meaning of his life here on Earth.
Patient, driven, loyal, and kind - he will be missed by so many.
