Earl Edmond Wheeler
Earl Edmond Wheeler of Tulsa, Oklahoma entered into rest at Saint Francis Hospital, Monday, June 26, 2017, at the age of, 61. He was surrounded by his companion Devin, along with his closest friends.
Earl was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on June 4, 1956, to Mary Magdalene (McDonald) Wheeler and Esker Earl Wheeler. He was a graduate from Catoosa High School with the class of 1974. After graduation, he earned his bachelor's degree in art education with a master's degree in special education from North Eastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He worked in the Catoosa Public School system before opening Glenpool Flowers in 1981, where his passion and creativity earned him many loyal customers and lifelong friendships. Earl was introduced to his caring companion, Devin, by mutual friends and after one dinner date with drinks became a couple. When he wasn't at the floral shop taking care of his numerous customers, Earl loved spending his time fishing and boating at his home on Lake Hudson where he and Devin hosted many fun parties. He loved a fine steak and Mexican food, accompanied with a good drink. Earl was famous for his story telling abilities, a love of singing, and captured much attention as an M.C. for many talent shows. He will be remembered for being a very generous person, his sometime bouts of stubbornness, owning a floral shop with a remarkable reputation, and his love for dogs, especially, Baylee.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Mary and Esker Wheeler along with brother-in-law; Ray Rouell.
Earl is survived by his loving companion; Devin Jackson, sisters; Earladene McCoy of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Georgia Rouell of Pryor, Oklahoma, nephews; Les Rouell and his wife Tammy of Pryor, Oklahoma, Art Rouell and his wife Abbie of San Antonio, Texas, Phillip Burns great-nieces; Katlyn and Lauren Rouell, with many loving friends.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service, 5757 S. Memorial, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74145. Family friend Judy Connors will officiate.
