Dr. Richard Lee Hall passed away Friday, January 30, 2015, at Saint Francis Hospital South in Tulsa. He was born September 26, 1931 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Edgar Abraham and Helen K. (Block) Hall. Richard grew up in Chickasha and graduated from Chickasha High School in 1942. He furthered his education at the University of Oklahoma where he played trumpet in the band. He earned his bachelors degree in psychology/sociology and his masters and doctors degrees in educational psychology and educational administration from the University of Oklahoma.
Dr. Hall began the first decade of his professional education career as a teacher, counselor, and administrator with the Tulsa Public Schools in the late 1950's and early 1960's. Subsequently, he became a faculty member and administrator at Southeastern State University. His service at the University of Tulsa dates over thirty years as a professor, associate dean, department chair, certification officer, and other assorted administrative positions.
Dr. Hall was a recipient of honors and awards from several professionally relevant societies. Such awards include Alpha Sigma Tau's Professor of the Year; service awards from Alpha Phi Omega, Kappa Kappa Psi, Kappa Delta Pi and the Oklahoma Personnel & Guidance Association; and the Distinguished Service Award from the Oklahoma Association for Counseling & Development. Dr. Hall was a member of the Oklahoma Educator's Hall of Fame.
Dr. Hall was preceded in death by his parents; his brother: Clifford A. Hall; and his nieces: Mary Crocker and Linda Hall. He is survived by his wife: Patricia L. Hall; his children: Mark K. Scott, Kelly D. Ellson and her husband Randy, and Steve Scott; his grandchildren: Kaile, Melissa, and Shaylee; his nephews Shaun and Jason; and his niece Kelly McRorey and her husband Ronnie.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Christopher W. Teel of Schaudt-Teel Funeral Service & Cremation Care at Memorial Park. A memorial ceremony celebrating the life of Dr. Hall is scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday at the Schaudt-Teel Funeral Service Chapel in Tulsa.
