We are "Celebrating the LIFE "

of DR. JOE DON ROGERS , a very good man!

JOE was born on Friday, August 13, 1927, to Joseph H. & Vera L. ROGERS.

Through no fault of his own, his birth took place in Mineral Wells, Texas,

which officially made him a Texan. Not good! Finally, by the age of 3, JOE

convinced his folks to move to Oklahoma...now an "Okie". Good! JOE loved

growing up in Oklahoma, mostly in Tulsa, graduating from Will Rogers High

School in 1945. That fall he entered Oklahoma A & M University (later

known as Oklahoma State University). But in 1946, the United States Army

drafted him to become a soldier in the European Occupation troop movement.

Because JOE was born under a lucky star, and because he could type, the

commander at Fort Meade, Maryland, retained JOE as his personal secretary,

which allowed for JOE to remain there and NOT ever be deployed overseas.

In 1947, JOE received an Honorable Discharge from the army, and returned

to college at "OSU", where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1948.

Immediately following, JOE was accepted at the SOUTHERN COLLEGE OF

OPTOMETRY in Memphis, TN. He married Joyce Sweeley in 1952. In 1953,

he graduated from SCO. They returned to Tulsa, where he became a

successful 35 year optometrist, and they joyfully raised their 3 son family.

In 1987 JOE retired; they also divorced. He remained in Tulsa, finally

remarrying on December 20, 1995, to Phyllis Murray. From then on, together,

JOE & Phyllis especially enjoyed family, friends, weenie dogs, football,

basketball, and UNO! He was a great husband & father & grandfather & friend.

He is also survived by his closest friends: Walter Nagengast, Dr. Don Lecklitner,

Dave Lovejoy, Wayne Smith, and Rod Coleman. He is also deeply missed by his

"secondary kids", Mimi & Mickey & Mikey ROGERS of the home.

Although none of us are absolutely sure WHERE JOE IS NOW, we do believe

that he is with loving family & friends who are already THERE! "Perfec!"

If you ever glance at the time of day or night and it is 11:11, that will be

JOE's way of saying "HI!".

And we believe, somewhere, JOE is still a very good "man"!.....

.....we will see each other again.

"Rest in Peace, our dearest JOE (JoeDon-Doc-Dad-Grandy-BooBoo ).......

..........you are very, very loved, for always."

p.s. " And, Thank You, Dear GOD, for giving us the gift of JOE. "
