Doyle McAfee, 87, beloved father, granddad, and great graddad, passed from this life April 19, 2014, after a brief illness. Born in Wanette, Oklahoma, on January 5th, 1927, to Guy Wesley and Edna McAfee, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Sue (Boudreau) McAfee, brothers J.D. and Kenneth McAfee, and sister Mamie Jo Jones.
He spent his early years on a farm in Wanette where he went to school and graduated from Purcell High School, Purcell, Oklahoma. He joined the Navy after high school and was stationed on Guam during WWII. After the war, he returned to Purcell and married the love of his life, Shirley Sue Boudreau. They had an only daughter, Margo Lynn, and moved to Midwest City, Oklahoma where he lived for 58 years.
Doyle was a switchman foreman for the A.T. & S.F. Railway for 30 years and Treasurer of the Santa Fe O.X. Federal Credit Union as well as serving on the Supervisory Committee for many years. He was a member of Wickline Methodist Church, Midwest City, Oklahoma, and a Tulsa resident of University Village Retirement Center for the past 3 years until his death. He loved his family, outdoors, gardening, reading, puzzles, and anything mechanical. His humor, friendship, and kindness will be missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by his only daughter, Margo Lynn (McAfee) Vogler, son-in-law Steven Vogler; grandson Ryan Christian Vogler; twin great-granddaughters Lorelei Rose and Alyssa Mae Vogler; and sister Shirley Ann Wilson (Darrell) of North Richland Hills, Texas.
A memorial service will be held at Ford Funeral Service in Midwest City at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 25 , with interment at 1:30 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery, Purcell, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Schaudt-Teel Funeral Services.
