Douglas Ingle Keffer passed away on May 4th at his home in Tulsa. He was born June 24, 1942, in Shattuck, Oklahoma. Doug graduated from Shattuck High School and then Oklahoma State University, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.
His thirty-six-year career in banking began at First National Bank & Trust Company in Oklahoma City and concluded with his retirement from Bank of Oklahoma in Tulsa, where he was Vice President in the Institutional Investment Division.
Doug played trumpet and loved music, hunting, fishing, painting, photography, his men’s Bible study group, and anything having to do with Oklahoma State University. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at the 5T Ranch near Holdenville and at the Keffer Kountry family cabin in Colorado.
A member of First United Methodist Church in Tulsa, Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas Wiley Keffer and Twyla Ingle Keffer, and his brother, James Keffer. Doug is survived by his wife, Janet; his first wife, Earlene Gathright; and two children from his marriage to Earlene, Jeffrey and Katherine, who are respectively married to Donna Keffer and Scott Pitcock. Doug was also preceded in death by his second wife, his beloved Karen, and her son Jay Middleton, and is survived by Tracey (Mrs. Mike Jennings) and Ginger (Mrs. Chris Day).
Doug is also survived by -- and was so often delighted by -- his grandchildren: Madeline and Wiley Keffer; Carter, Stratton, and Franklin Pitcock; Mallory and Holden Cobb; and Conner, Griffin, and Gunnison Day. Other survivors include Doug’s nieces, Becky Dunn and Laura Moats, as well as Becky’s husband, Derek Dunn. Numerous cousins also survive Doug. His family would like to express thanks to SJMC Hospice of Tulsa, and especially to caregivers Jessica, Andrea, and Chong for their loving care.
