Dorothy Jean Santos It is with great sadness and loss that we say goodbye to our beloved sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and for many a great friend with the recent passing of Dorothy Jean Santos. She passed away Saturday, December 17, 2011 in Robertsdale, Alabama at the age of 78. She will be buried at home in Henryetta where she had so many close family members and friends. She was a joy to know in life. Graceful and kind, always willing to help others. She graduated from Henryetta high school in 1951, relocated with her family to California where she graduated from nursing school, met her husband Dr. George Santos and began a very full life with four children, a great deal of travel as they were active duty military, and also returning to Henryetta and working with a great group of people at the Henryetta Medical Clinic, including her cousin Dr. Brent Davis, and her husband also. Those were some of the happiest years of her life. She relocated to Alabama in 1996 after being widowed to be close to her children, and since that time she played a very active part in being a much loved grandmother to six grandchildren. She is survived by her sister Jo Morris; son, George Jr. and his wife, Bridgette Santos; son, Richard Santos; daughter, Elizabeth Michon and her husband, Asher Michon and six grandchildren, Ian Michon, Trey Santos, Elijah Michon, Isabella Michon, Hannah Santos and Luci Marie Santos. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the St. Michaels Catholic Church with Father Peter Phung officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta under the direction of the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Henryetta. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Henryetta. Friends may send their condolences to www.shurdenjackson.com In accordance with her wishes in life please make any donations to St. Judes Children's fund rather than sending flowers. It was something near and dear to her heart.
