Dorothy Kennedy

Dorothy Louise Kennedy, 90, of Okmulgee, OK, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at the Highland Park Manor in Okmulgee.


Dorothy was born in Larned, KS on February 16, 1927, a daughter of the late Malinda Louise (Baeunel) and Delbert Blair Dreese. She graduated from Larned High School in Larned, Kansas. She became a Licensed Practical Nurse and was employed by the State Hospital in Larned. She was the widow of Joe Lloyd Kennedy.

Dorothy was a talented artist known for her paintings of farm scenses on saw blades.
She was a lifetime member of First Christian Church of Larned, KS. After her retirements she was a active Senior attending dances and traveling on their bus trips. She was devoted to her loyal cat Friskie.

Dorothy is survived by three sons Joe and wife Jean Kennedy of Okmulgee, Karlton Kennedy, of Olatha, KS, and Allen and wife Lois Kennedy of Larned, KS. She is also survived by grandsons: Kyler Kennedy of Olatha, KS, Dean Kennedy of Larned, KS & Clayton Dodge and wife Leslie of Morris, OK. Great-granddaughters Halee & Alexis Dodge of Morris and numerous nieces & nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe, a brother Kenneth Dreese and sister Velma Wilson.

VIewing and Visitation will be Monday, August 7, 2017 from 6:00-8:00pm at the Schaudt Okmulgee Chapel, 220 S. Alabama. Graveside service will be 2:00pm Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Larned Cemetery in Larned, Kansas.
