Doris Irene Kerr Fox

Doris Irene Kerr Fox was born December 29, 1930 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to William Spencer Kerr and Violet Justus Kerr. Her father passed when Doris was almost 4 years old, Isaac Barton Derrick became her step-father, but was known to her as Daddy. She attended Berryhill School to the 10th Grade.

Doris started her working career at Kress Drug in Downtown Tulsa, working as a waitress in the snack-bar/grill area. She later went on to work for Mid-Continent Map Company, where she met the love of her Life Car Ray Fox. Carl and Doris were united in marriage on February 3, 1951 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They enjoyed a little over 41 years of marriage, before his passing in 1993. They had two children, Carla Irene Fox Fargo and Timothy Lee Fox. Once Doris got her children in school, she resumed her working career at the Riverview Village Daycare Center, where she loved on babies every day. Later in life, she went to work for the Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital (later know as Tulsa Regional Hospital) in the Laundry, where she retired in 1995 after more than 10 years of service.

In her retirement, she resumed her love for caring for babies, her grandchildren. Doris poured her life into her family and was known as “Nana” to many great nieces and nephews. She loved caring for Brandy, Jared and Leslee. She would pick Jared and Leslee up from school and the three would have adventures (get into mischief) everyday. Her family was her Hobby and Life.

She lived the last 10 years of her life at home with her daughter Carla being her care-giver the last 5 of those years. Those two were pretty inseparable and Carla made sure her mother was cared for up until her death on January 12, 2018, when Tim and Robin took on the role of care-giver, with the help of Grand-daughter Shelia Fennel.

Doris is preceded in death by her Parents, William Spencer Kerr and Violet Justus Kerr Derrick and her Step-father, Isaac Barton Derrick, her loving husband, Carl Ray Fox. Her loving Daughter Carla Irene Fox Fargo. She had three sisters precede her in death, Dolly Emily Kerr Hines, Velma Darlene Kerr Bradfield and Vivian Kerr. Doris had two brothers that she preceded in death, George Barton Derrick and James Earl Derrick.

Doris is survived by her son, Tim Fox and wife Robin of Glenpool, Ok, Grandson, Jared Ray Fox and wife Cara of Nashville, Tn. Granddaughters Leslee Autumn Fox of Glenpool, Ok. and Brandy Irene Fargo of Henryetta, Ok. Step-granddaughters Trina Wilson, husband Ron, of Ochelata, Ok, Shelia Fennel, husband Greg of Sapulpa Ok. A Great-grandson, Norman Ray Fox of Nashville, TN. And a host of Neices, Nephews, extended family and friends.
