Donald Gene Kay, 75, of Jenks, OK, passed away Monday, January 29, 2018, at his residence with family by his side.
Donald was born in Wynnewood, OK, on August 8, 1942, a son of the late Muriel (Hudson) Kay and Eugene Kay.
He attended Lawton High School but transferred and graduated high school in Sayre, OK. Upon graduation, he attended two years of college. In his early years, Donald had his own photography business. His talents were also on display when he was employed with Oklahoma State University in the photography services department. He worked in the food service industry, before his most current position as a nursing home administrator in facilities across Oklahoma, which began in the early 1990's and continued until the Spring of 2017.
Donald was a man who was known for loving to sit and talk to anyone he was around and his enjoyment of smoking cigarettes. He enjoyed cooking, watching sports and his favorite channel, CNN. Reading the Bible and spending time with his family were his most cherished moments.
Donald was married to his first wife, Judy (McLean) Kay and together had three loving sons. He married his wife, Sandra (Gene) Kay on June 24, 1976 in Denton, TX. They added three wonderful children and have made many wonderful memories together. Donald and Sandra enjoyed many happy years together and celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary last Summer.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents; Muriel and Eugene Kay and one brother; Dennie Joe Kay.
He leaves behind many lasting memories with his wife; Sandra Kay, children; Kelly Don Kay and wife Jennifer, Bryan Lee Kay, Darren Scott Kay and wife Karen, Kristi Gene Sager, Justin Wade Kay and wife AnnaMae, and Amy Don Kay, grandchildren; Jaxon, Cameron, Carson, Allen, Mason, Charlotte, Ellyssa, Alex, Shawn McKay, Jacob, Lauren, Madison, and Riley, siblings; Ronnie Kay and wife Jean, Lonnie Ray Kay and wife Kathy, and Coy Kay and wife Leora.
A special thanks to Cura Hospice, Shannon, Dana, Marie, Nichole, Edna, Raphael, and Jessica, your love and compassion has truly been appreciated.
Celebration of Life Services will be held 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Schaudt's Glenpool Funeral Service Chapel, 719 E. 141st Street, Glenpool, OK 74033. Pastor Sam Crenshaw will officiate.
