Dolores Irene Cary

Dolores DeMoss Cary, 93, of Oklahoma City, passed away on October 8, 2023 after a brief illness.

Dolores , the youngest of nine children, was born on April 25, 1930 to Clint and Mable DeMoss in Nowata, Oklahoma. She married Dwight Paul Cary in Coffeyville, Kansas in 1948. Dolores and Dwight went on to have two children, Theresa Ann and Dawn Leigh.

After Dwight's death in 1984, Dolores studied interior design at Southwestern Christian College in Oklahoma City and worked several years as an interior designer. She was passionate about art, working in oils, acrylics, and sculpture. Dolores won many awards for her sculptures at Oklahoma City area shows and exhibits. She also taught sculpture for many years at Rose State University and in her studio in Oklahoma City. When not working on sculptures, Dolores was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Oklahoma Sculpture Society, and Better Investing Club.

Dolores is survived by her daughters, Theresa Austin and Dawn Theaker, son in-law Dennis Theaker of The Woodlands, Texas, grandson Dwight Theaker of Austin, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Memorial services will be held 10:00am, Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service Chapel, 5757 South Memorial Drive, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74145. Graveside services will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5111 South Memorial Drive, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74145.
