Denzle Robert Shafer age 80 passed away Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Denzle was born December 8, 1934 in Milo, MO to James Lloyd Shafer and Bertha Ellen (Ritchey) Shafer. He graduated from El Dorado High School with the Class of 1953 and he attended Emporia State Teacher College and received his Bachelors Degree. He married Peggy Neighbors on May 17, 1957 in Eureka, KS. Denzle served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He worked as the Director of Food Service for the Marriott Corporation for twenty-five years. Denzle was a member of Council Road Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Bertha Shafer, his brothers, Glen Shafer, Joe Shafer, Wayne Shafer, his sisters, Frances Farthing and Opal Smith.
Denzle is survived by his loving wife Peggy Shafer of Glenpool, his daughter, Penny Baker of Tulsa, his daughter, Julie Ryker and her husband, Breck of Jenks, his son, Jeff Shafer and his wife, Rae Ann of Shawnee, his grandchildren, Lauren Baker, Blakely Berry and spouse Nick Berry, Jeffrey Shafer, Alex Ryker, Jared Ryker, Jayden Shafer, Griffin Ryker, Tori Ryker, his sisters, Jesse Rose of Augusta, KS and Ingaby Kelley of Wichita, KS along with countless nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation Wednesday, October 21st at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Schaudt's Funeral Service, 719 East 141st Street, Glenpool, Oklahoma.
Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. Pastor Clint Chamberlain will officiate.
Memorial services are 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2015 at Council Road Baptist Church, 2900 N. Council Road, Bethany, Oklahoma (405 789-3175).
