Delores Jean Loftin, 95, passed away on March 29, 2025. She was born on April 24, 1929, in Elkhart, Indiana, the daughter of Milton and Iler Bessie (Harmon) Lotz. She grew up in Rockton, Illinois, where she graduated from Hononegah High School in 1947. She went on to further her education at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, graduating in 1954.
Delores had a fulfilling career, working as an editor for Scripture Press Publications in Illinois, a secretary at Moody Christian Academy in Tulsa, and an office manager for several companies. She finally retired at the impressive age of 82.
In 1955, she married Jack Loftin at Emmanuel Baptist Church in (Lawndale) Chicago, IL, and together they raised four children. Since the early 80's, she was a faithful member of Tulsa Bible Church.
Delores found great joy in engaging her mind and heart in enriching activities, including Bible study, solving newspaper puzzles, and cherishing conversations with her children. Her deep faith and love for her family were evident in her dedicated prayers. Even when circumstances required her to be the breadwinner, her passion for homemaking shone through. She lovingly sewed everything from buttons and hems to shirts, coats, Barbie clothes, and even slipcovers. Her exceptional cooking and baking brought joy to family gatherings, as she always prepared the favorite meals of loved ones on their birthdays.
An animal lover, she trained her cats to sit up and roll over like puppies. She also had a passion for gardening, particularly raising African violets and trading iris rhizomes with notable gardeners in Tulsa. Her frugality and resourcefulness earned her the title of Coupon Queen during the era of Green Stamps and proofs-of-purchase. Delores had a love for photography and journaling, capturing cherished memories of special occasions, scenic sites, and historic landmarks throughout the Midwest and the South. She carried on these interests from her parents and lovingly passed them down to her children.
Delores is survived by her two sons, Steven (Lisa) Loftin of McLoud, OK, and Mark Loftin (Debbie) of Dyersburg, TN; her daughter, Laurie Loftin of Dyersburg, TN; her sister, Carole (Jim) Colter of Arizona; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, six of her siblings, her beloved husband Jack in 1986, her youngest son David Loftin in 2022, and her daughter-in-law Debbie in 2020.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service Chapel, with burial to follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
