On the evening of Friday, January 29, 2016 at 10:10 p.m. Delmar passed at Clarehouse Hospice from cancer surrounded by his devoted wife, family and friends. He was 75 years old.
On March 17, 1940 Delmar was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Herman and Henrietta Hutchison . He graduated from Ponca High School in 1958 where he met the love of his life, Norma. In August of 1958 he enlisted into the United States Air Force and on November 15, 1958 he married Norma at Ponca City, Oklahoma. While in the service he spent time in Misawa, Japan and their first son, Brent , was born in 1960. Delmar and Norma lived several years in Ponca City. In 1962 their second child, Tryna was born. They spent a few years in Stillwater while Delmar went to school at Oklahoma A&M. Delmar and his family later moved to Tulsa.
Delmar had many hobbies. He raised hunting dogs and enjoyed hunting with his son Brent. He was an avid fisherman his entire life. His family spent several years fishing and camping together along rivers, ponds and lakes. Delmar also fished in tournaments in local bass clubs trading fishing stories along the way. Delmar raised homing pigeons in the 70’s and 80’s. He Belonged to a local pigeon club and won many first place trophies and plaques.
Besides his many hobbies, Delmar said frequently his two most important things in life were: "Jesus Christ and his family". While battling cancer he told doctors that his daughter, Tryna, was his “hero” because she had battled cancer twice and won each battle.
Delmar was preceded in death by his mother Henrietta, his father Herman and his brother Verl.
Delmar is survived by his wife Norma of Glenpool, Oklahoma, his son Brent Hutchison and his wife Nancy of Jacksonville, Florida and their daughter Amy Dane and her husband Greg of Tulsa. His daughter Tryna Stephens and her husband Ray of Jenks and their two children Christopher and Kathryn. Delmar was most proud of his grandchildren.
Memorial services are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Schaudt's Glenpool Funeral Service Chapel, 719 E. 141st Street, Glenpool, Oklahoma. Pastor John Wheeler will officiate.
Graveside will be at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery at 1:00 that same day. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be sent to Clarehouse Tulsa. They wish to send their "special" thanks to St. John Hospice associates.
