Deborah McGraw

June 26, 1951 — September 21, 2024

Deborah "Debbie" Kathleen McGraw, age 73, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on September 21, 2024, due to complications from pneumonia following knee replacement surgery. Born on June 26, 1951, in Abilene, Texas, to Gervis and Pat McGraw, Debbie was the beloved eldest of seven siblings who filled her life with love, laughter, and countless memories.

Growing up in Ponca City, Oklahoma, Debbie attended St. Mary's Catholic School, where her love for learning blossomed. She went on to pursue an undergraduate degree in mathematics at Oklahoma State University, where she married her high school sweetheart after her freshman year. Although their marriage ended in divorce, they shared a cherished bond through their son, Brian Taylor, who resides in Tulsa.

Debbie's journey took a turn from numbers to people as she discovered her passion for psychology. She began her career at the Federal Aviation Administration in Oklahoma City, where she combined her analytical skills with her interest in human behavior. Her desire to help others led her back to Oklahoma State University, where she earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 1990. Debbie dedicated many years to providing therapy for police and fire workers and their families at Psychological Services before transitioning in 2005 to a fulfilling private practice focused on children, adolescents, and their families. Her clients inspired her daily, and her laughter and warmth left an indelible mark on those she helped.

Debbie's love for life extended beyond her professional endeavors. She found joy in the companionship of dogs, particularly the ever-smiling Pomeranian breed. An avid gardener, she delighted in nurturing flowers and plants. Debbie also had a passion for singing, often playing music from her phone and filling her home with music and melodies that brought smiles to those around her. Her laughter was infectious, a gift that will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Debbie is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Vickie. She is survived by her son, Brian, her five siblings-Sherrie, Sandy, Tim, Michael, and Patty-and her dear roommate and "adopted sister," Jennifer. Additionally, she leaves behind a loving family of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

In honor of Debbie's life, several celebrations will be held for clients, friends, and family members. Dates will be announced soon. For those who wish to express their condolences, flowers are welcome.

Debbie's spirit, laughter, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
