David R. Turpin age 61 passed away Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
David was born November 15, 1948 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Cecil Turpin and Ellen E. (Deffenbaugh) Turpin. He graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1966. David served his country in the United States Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War. He married the love of his life, Lissa on August 26, 1973 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. David was an avid race car driver in his earlier years. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, sailing, spending time with his grandchildren and was a Dallas Cowboy's fan.
David was preceded in death by his parents: Cecil Turpin and Ellen DeShane; his brothers: Fred Page and Allen Turpin.
He is survived by his wife: Lissa Turpin of Jenks; his daughter: Melissa L. Turpin of Tulsa; his son: Damian L. Turpin and his wife, Lindsay of Kearney, Missouri; his sisters: Linda LaMont of San Diego, California; Rosalee Weems of Indiana; his loving grandchildren: Brock L. Turpin, Braxton T. Whisenhunt of Tulsa, Braden R. Turpin, Blaine A. Turpin and Landen S. Turpin of Kearney, Missouri; nephew and niece: Steve and Diana Turpin of Bixby; great nephews: Allen Turpin and his wife, Stephanie of Glenpool; Josh Turpin and his wife, Keeli of Glenpool; great nieces: Kristie Moore and her husband: Jeremiaha of Bixby, Stephanie Murphy and her husband, Chad of Bixby along with many friends and acquaintances.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Glenpool Christian Church,1600 E. 141st Street. Reverend Gary Volz will officiate. Interment will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
