David Lagunas

July 30, 1956 — April 19, 2025

David Randal Lagunas, known affectionately as Randy, Dad, Grandpa, and Papa, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on July 30, 1956, in San Diego, California, to Daniel and Mary Yavonne Lagunas, David lived a life full of strength, humor, and heart.

Randy had a personality that left a lasting impression. He was headstrong yet generous, quick-witted with a goofy streak that brought laughter to his family, and always had a confident charm that made him unforgettable. He was a man of conviction-right even when he wasn't-and those who loved him wouldn't have had it any other way.

He was known for his sharp mind and diverse interests. A true connoisseur of gemstones, Randy could talk for hours about their qualities and meanings, just as he could about guns-his knowledge and passion for both were matched only by his intelligence. And no matter where he went, he was known for always looking sharp and smelling great. He carried himself with pride and had a magnetic presence that drew people in. A ladies' man with a twinkle in his eye and a heart of gold.

A proud fan of the Oklahoma State Cowboys, Randy cheered on his team with enthusiasm and loyalty. He was an OSU graduate and spent his life care for others as an RN. But it was his role as a father and grandfather where his heart shined the brightest.

He is survived by his daughter-in-law Ashley Leybas and her husband Daniel of Coweta,Oklahoma; his son David M. Lagunas of Jacksonville, Florida; and his daughter Amanda Cardenas of Bethany, Oklahoma. He was the beloved grandfather of Leah Holmes and her husband Drew, Dylan Lagunas, Blayton Sexton, Aiyana Cardenas, Kaiya Cardenas, Danyella Lagunas, Alexandria Leybas, Ashlynn Leybas, and Lillian Leybas. His grandchildren adored him deeply and will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

David is preceded in death by his loving parents, Daniel and Mary Yavonne Lagunas.

Though he has left this world, the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the lessons he passed on will continue to live through the generations he helped shape. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Rest easy, Randy. We love you more than words can say. You are truly going to be missed by us all.
