David Elwood James

David Elwood James, born on December 9, 1946, in Clovis, California, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2024, in Catoosa, Oklahoma. David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharon James, to whom he was married on May 24, 1996, until her passing in 2021.

David was the cherished son of Eula Grace Watts and Elvin Kirby James. He proudly served his country as a Medic in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1966. After his military service, David built a successful career as a salesman, retiring from Anheuser Busch.

David leaves behind a large and loving family. He is survived by his three children: Catherine Yvonne James, Charles James, and Patrick James; and his two stepchildren: Jennifer Sawvel and her husband Allen of Broken Arrow, OK and Leandra Mazzei and her husband Aaron of Fairfield, OH. David's legacy also includes his grandchildren, Ryan James, Zachary Winchester, Raymond Callaway II, Isaiah James, as well as his step-grandchildren Michael Sawvel and Christopher Mazzei and many others.

David was one of thirteen siblings and is survived by four: Paul James and his wife Brenda of Mountain Home, AR, Roy James and his wife Bernice of Napa Valley, CA, Eula Smith and her husband Dewey of Yukon, OK, and Carol Brashers and her husband Bill of Ward, AR. He is also fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.

David's life was marked by his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and his hard work. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
