Danny Gene Copeland was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He passed away on March 10, 2024 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, He left a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He was born on May 19, 1948, in Terral, Oklahoma to Paul and Elsie Copeland.
Danny leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his daughters Theresa Weldon and her husband Keith, and Alycea Lewis- his grandchildren, Robert and Riley Lillegard, Alexis and Andrew Lewis, Madison Hartley and her husband, Tony - his great-grandchildren Asher and Charlotte Lewis, and Benjamin and Matthew Hartley - and his dear friends, Jason (Dr. Jay) Lewis and Terry (Big Wag) Wagner.
Preceding Danny in death were his parents Paul and Elsie Copeland and his brother Marlin Copeland.
Dan served his country with honor in the Army during the Vietnam War and earned a National Defense Service Medal and marksmanship awards. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, earning both a bachelor's degree in sociology and a master's degree in behavioral counseling. He was very proud of his service to our country and of the degrees he obtained.
Dan had a passion for fishing and an unwavering support for the Dallas Cowboys and OSU Cowboys football teams. He enjoyed cooking and was great at creating delicious meals that brought people together. He was a Monopoly MASTER and liked to play card games such as gin rummy and spades.
He found joy in the simple pleasures of life. In his leisure time, Dan could often be found bird watching, doing yard work, and indulging his sweet tooth with his favorite treats (black walnut ice cream and Queen Anne cherries) or spending quality time with his loved ones. God and family were paramount to him. He cherished every moment spent in the company of family.
Throughout his life, Danny faced challenges with resilience and determination. His dedication to his family and career was evident during his 23 years of service at Rainbo Bread.
Danny leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. In honoring his memory, let us remember the joy he brought to our lives and the love he shared with all who crossed his path. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing that he was loved and cherished by many.
