Dana Wright

September 29, 1925 — March 15, 2013

Dana Lawrence Wright, age 88, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013 at the Ambassador Courtyard Assisted Living facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dana was born in Asheville, North Carolina to Amen P. Lawrence and Jessie Mae (Parson) Lawrence. After graduating from Wellers School, she received an Associate's Degree from the University of North Carolina. In June 1957 Dana and the family moved to Borger, Texas after Lewis Wright, her belated husband of 65 years, was offered a position with Phillips Petroleum Company as a chemical engineer. She is survived by her daughter, Cecilia Anne Seitz and her husband, Dwayne of Tulsa, her son, Lewis Wright, Jr and his wife, Terri, of El Paso, Texas, her sister Elizabeth Garland, Asheville, NC; along with five grandchildren. Some of Dana's activities included the Twentieth Century Club, the Phillips Garden Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Magic Plains Arts Council, the Amarillo Art Center Association, the Amarillo Art Alliance, the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts Association, the Community Forum, volunteered for the Red Cross and United Way, Meals on Wheels, a board member of the American Cancer Society with a term as president in 1974 and served as public information chairman, the Tri-City Community Concert Association, Women's Chamber of Commerce, the Borger Music Club, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. She was appointed to the followings: Board of the American Biographical Institute Research Association, member of the Panhandle Regional Planning Commission; member of the governing body of the Health Systems Agency, served on the review committee from 1978 to 1983. Dana has been recognized in Personalities of the South Book of Honor, Who's Who in Community Service, and Notable American Award of the Bicentennial. She enjoyed playing golf, music, traveling, collection old post cards, new bookplates, and antiques. She stayed active in the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed her community and the room it has given his family to grow.
