Dale Halbrooks

October 14, 1935 — September 25, 2012

Dale Halbrooks, a lifelong resident of Morris, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the age of 76. He was born October 14, 1935 to James Willard and Vera (Crisler) Halbrooks in Morris, Oklahoma. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Morris, where he loved to sing in the choir. He received a 25 year plaque for never missing a day of church. He helped deliver Meals on Wheels. Dale ran the down marker at the Morris Football games for 57 years and rode the bus with the players and coaches to the games. Dale was loved by everyone who knew him and he was always willing to help anyone he could. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Willard and Vera Halbrooks; brothers, Olen Halbrooks and Troy Halbrooks and sister, Jurldine Frederick. Survivors include two sisters, Lois Gerhard and husband, Loyd of Broken Arrow and Ethel Thompson and husband, Alvin of Morris; two brothers, Charles Halbrooks and wife, Hattie of Broken Arrow and Leon Halbrooks and wife, Annie of Harrah and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Morris with Reverend Ray Moffeit officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Morris Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee. Pallbearers will be Coach Larry Bookout, Bruce Force, Max Shoemake, Robert Greenlee, Gary Frazier and Jimmie Lee. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee.
