Cory Ortiz

May 4, 1988 — September 28, 2024

Cory Thomas Ortiz, aged 36, passed away on September 28, 2024. He was a believer of Jesus Christ, and we are reassured that he is now with his Lord.

Cory was born to his parents, Raul Ortiz and Denise Ortiz, on May 4, 1988, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He attended Robertson Elementary, Pretty Water Middle School, and Berryhill High School, where he made many life-long friendships.

Cory’s love for the outdoors shown from an early age. When Cory and his brother Ryan were playing outside as kids, he picked flowers for his mother and continued to do so until the last week of his life. Cory was a true outdoorsman. He loved the beach, but his passion for hunting and fishing was unrivaled. He was never more at home than when he was roughing it in the woods. He was always prepared and never did anything halfway, even going so far as to build his own guns and tackle boxes. As a boy, he and his brother would take their younger cousins to the neighbor’s pond and fish or play in the woods for hours. When he got older, he enjoyed many freezing mornings in a tree stand with his uncles and cousins. Or sunsets on the beach during family vacations. As an adult, he found his solitude out on his boat, enjoying the calm of the water or on a hike in the woods. He loved deeply and was loved by many. His unique laughter will always be missed.

In death, he was proceeded by his nephew Kolby, Grandfather Tommy, and Grandmother Salud. He is survived by his mother, father, brother, sister-in-law, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him deeply.

In his final journey, he now walks the endless trails of heaven, where the rivers run clear, and the skies are forever blue. His spirit is free, finding peace in the great outdoors he so loved. May he rest among the mountains and streams, forever in nature's embrace.
