Connie Jay Joyner

Connie Jay Joyner was born June 9, 1940, the eldest of 10 children in Farmville, North Carolina, to the late Ecclesiastes and Laura Mae Bullock-Joyner.

Connie Jay graduated from H.B. Sugg High School in Farmville, NC and moved on to New York City, NY, where he later met and married his first wife Barbara Ann Parker-Joyner (deceased). They had two children, Frederick (Rickey) Joyner of Long Island, NY, and Bonita M. Joyner of Boston, Mass. Connie Jay moved on from that relationship, and had more children; Jerry Cobb (Stamford, CT); Robin L. Cobb (Strafford, CT); Connie C. Whitehurst (Bridgeport, CT); and Iachia Jeffries (Bridgeport, CT).

In 1977, Connie Jay met his present wife, Vinnie, in Stamford, CT. In 1980, the couple along with Vinnie’s three children; Henry Laster (LaVergne, TN); Cyril Lavine (Stamford, CT); and Kelly Lavine (Tulsa, OK) moved to Tulsa, OK to work at Hilti Inc. In 1987, the couple were married in Las Vegas, NV. They have no children together. The couple joined St. John Baptist Church in 1990, where Connie Jay eventually became a Deacon.

On Saturday, January 14, 2017, Connie Jay was called home to be with the Lord, at the Veteran’s Center in Claremore, OK. He was preceded in death by his sisters: Louis Carolyn Joyner and Minnie Rea Little; and brothers: S.T. Joyner and Herbert Joyner.

Left to cherish his memory, are his wife, all of his children, his sisters, Barbara (Mitchell Joyner) of Chesapeake, VA; Betty Joyner of, Stamford, CT; Caroline (Willie) Battle of Farmville, NC; and his brothers, Bennie Joyner of Stamford, CT; Gregory (Mandy) Joyner of Barnstadt, Germany; Kenneth Joyner of Farmville, NC; 10 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
