Dr. Clyde C. Matthews, Jr., a resident of Okmulgee, went to be with his Lord on Monday, December 14, 2009 at the age of 85 years, 11 months and 10 days. He was born on Friday, January 4, 1924 to Clyde Sr. and Flora (Little) Matthews in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He served in the Army Air Corp during WWII and was in the 45th infantry division during the Korea War. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Matthews of Okmulgee; two daughters, Barbara Chambers and husband, Gary of San Jose, CA and Karen Reimer and husband, Bruce of Chicago; one son, Dale Matthews and wife, Lois of Rochester, MI; six grandchildren; two brothers, M.V. Matthews and wife, Thomasine of Henryetta and Harold Matthews and wife, Jo of Sand Springs; three sisters, Doris Bear and husband, Rock of Okemah, Wilma Lambeth and husband, Mike of Okemah and Inola Mooneyham of Billingsham, WA. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Okmulgee with Reverend Lawrence Matlock officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden Funeral Home of Okmulgee. Pallbearers will be David Lambeth, Bruce Lambeth, Jim Matthews, Jay Matthews, Johnie Likowski and Keith Robertson. Visitation will be Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Shurden Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
