Clifford E. Mahan, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at his home in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Born on June 19, 1941, in Weleetka, OK. Clifford was the cherished son of Ben and Maude (Moore) Mahan. He proudly served our country in the National Guard after graduating high school from Weleetka.
On December 4, 1959, Clifford married the love of his life, Dolores Johnson, in a ceremony held in Okemah, Oklahoma. Clifford dedicated 40 years of his life to the Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO), where he began his journey on April 1, 1960, and retired as a Distribution Supervisor on August 31, 2000.
Clifford is preceded in death by his father, Ben Mahan, and mother, Maude Mahan; his brothers Ben, Kenneth and Dean along with his sister, Anita, and his grandson Logan Whitsitt. He leaves behind a legacy of love and memories with his beloved wife Dolores Mahan, daughter Leanne and husband Reid VanOrsdol, daughter Cindy and husband Tom Carriker, and son Clint Mahan and wife Karen. Clifford also leaves behind his brother Andy Mahan and his beloved grandchildren, Mallory Freeman, Samantha Bassett, Tyler Mahan, Cale Carriker and Kyle Carriker along with his great grandchildren, Hadley, Mackenzie and Grey Freeman and Bowen and Briar Bassett.
In addition to his dedication to family and career, Clifford had a passion for life. He loved all sports, with a special place in his heart for fishing any lake he could find. Clifford found joy in the great outdoors through his love for hunting, golfing, and spending time in nature. Clifford was a unique story-teller and loved to remember the past and his experiences that made up his life. He also loved music and would play it often to reminisce special times in their lives.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Clifford's life will be held on January 27, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Schaudt's Okmulgee Funeral Service Chapel, located at 220 S. Alabama Ave, Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Pastor Brayden Buss of First Baptist Church of Okmulgee will officiate the service.
