A funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Cleta Jean Blake will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Schaudt’s Okmulgee Funeral Service at 1:00 PM. A visitation will be held Friday, June 7, 2019, at Schaudt’s Okmulgee Funeral Service Chapel from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Interment will take place at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens following the funeral service.
Cleta Jean Blake was born on August 6, 1932, in Okemah, Oklahoma to Roger and Lena Kennedy, cousin to the Shepard and Hill families of Okemah. She passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at the age of 87 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
Together with her husband, Monte Blake they had five children, Darel Collins, Larry Collins, Michael Stewart, Monte Blake, and Cindy Blake Scott.
Cleta was a graduate of Daniel Webster High School and studied Accounting attended the Oklahoma School of Accounting, Tulsa University and Tulsa Junior College. Well known as owner and operator of C. Jean Blake Insurance, Inc for 18 years, she was also former Assistant Director of a modeling school in Wichita, Kansas and was also involved in a television program called “The Body Beautiful”. She served as a past president of the American Business Women’s Association and Pilot Club of Tulsa. An astute businesswoman, she helped manage her son (Darel’s) business, The Nutrition Shoppe, for many years.
She was a long-time member of Tulsa Baptist Temple (actively involved in outreach ministry, nursery and Sunday School) and became a member of Clearview Baptist Church after moving to Okmulgee.
Cleta is preceded in death by parents Roger and Lena Kennedy; husband Monte Blake; sister Mary Lois Kennedy and brothers Finis Kennedy and Clayton Kennedy.
Those left to cherish her memory include her 5 children; Darel Collins and wife Sherry, Larry Collins, Michael Stewart and wife Brenda, Monte Ray Blake and wife Ruth, and Cindy Blake Scott and husband David, 12 grandchildren including Laura Jane Collins, Dustin Wade Collins, Carrie Amber Collins and Kaitlyn Stewart, and many great-grandchildren.
