Cleona L. Mcneil

Cleona Ladene (Gassaway) McNeill age 81 passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2011 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Cleona was born December 18, 1929 to Louie V. Gassaway and Ester C. (Manes) Gassaway in Cherokee County, Oklahoma. She attended Okmulgee High School. She married James Harvey McNeill on October 14, 1951. For twenty-seven years Cleona worked as an Assistant Supervisor for Charles Page Children's Home in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. She was a devoted mother and loved her family dearly. Cleona was a Sunday School Teacher, taught Bible Studies; she loved children, singing, cross stitching, quilting, crocheting and watching Christian television programs. She attended Crosstown Pentecostal Church in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Cleona was preceded in death by her parents: Louie and Ester Gassaway and her beloved husband, Jim, who passed away April 23, 1998. She is survived by her daughters: Joyce Mills and her husband, Lee of Beggs, Oklahoma, Janice Carpenter and her husband, Harry of Powderly, Texas; her sisters: June Pride, the widow of Paul of Amarillo, Texas; Wanda Morris, the widow of Raymond of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; her brothers: JW Gassaway and his wife, Marie of Muskogee, Oklahoma; Louie Gassaway and his wife, Nancy of Muskogee, Oklahoma; her seven loving grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren along with a host of friends.
