Claude L. Oliver, a former longtime resident of Okmulgee, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014 in Salem, Oregon at the age of 96. He was born January 22, 1918 to John T. and Lucy (Duggan) Oliver in Murfreesboro, Arkansas. He served in the United States Army during WWII and received a Bronze Star. On July 17, 1945, he married Floy F. (Frasher) Oliver in Howard County, Arkansas. He was a lifetime Southern Baptist and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Okmulgee and was a former resident of the Baptist Village for over 20 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Floy F. Oliver in 2004; parents, John T. and Lucy Oliver; five brothers, Johnny, Hester, Thomas, Clyde and Leon Oliver. He is survived by his daughter, Claudia Helm of Dallas, Oregon. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2014 at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel in Okmulgee with Dr. Dennis Taylor officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of the Jackson Funeral Home and Crematory in Okmulgee. Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Army and Patriot Guard Riders.
