Clarence Bud Turner

March 28, 1918 — January 3, 2015

Clarence “Bud” Turner was born in Stigler, OK on March 28, 1918 to Henry Smith Turner and Lena Elizabeth Johnson Turner. He passed peacefully from this life January 3, 2015 at the age of 96. He served in the United States Army during WWII and married Esther Violet Hibdon on June 2, 1942. He owned Turner Insurance and Real Estate for over 40 years. Bud was active in the community and participated in the Okmulgee Kiwanis Club, American Legion and the Senior Citizen Center for many years. He hosted the “Gospel Music Hour” at KOKL on Sunday mornings. He was a deacon and teacher at the Church of Christ in Okmulgee where he led songs, prayers and gave Bible talks. He was preceded in death by his wife Esther Violet Hibdon Turner, his parents Henry and Lena, brother, T.J. Turner, sisters Edith Turner Groover, Neoma Turner Williams, Estelle Turner Mason, Myrtle Turner Dillingham and daughter Susan “Mary Sue” Turner Posewick. He is survived by his brothers Mark Turner, Dan Turner, Dee Turner, and his sister Faye Turner Wallace, daughters Virginia, Betty, Peggy and son David. His grandchildren include Gary, Michael, Shelly, Kevin, Kenny, David, Susan, Andy, Glenn, Amy, Brian and Benjamin, great grandchildren Leah, Raegan, Elizabeth, Mackenzie, Jesse, Willow, Mickey, Braden, Jaxon, Anna, Mason, Liam, Payton and Ava Marie, great-great grandchildren Gabriel and Ariel plus a number of much loved “adopted” children and grandchildren, Ashley, Liz and Jaci. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Church of Christ in Okmulgee with Minister Kevin Copeland officiating. Mr. Turner will be buried at the Haskell Cemetery next to his wife, Esther. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee. Pallbearers will be Gary Highfill, Michael Highfill, Kevin Frisby, Kenny Wright, Andy Turner, Ben Turner and Brian Himes. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jesse Wright and David Turner, Jr. Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Army and the Patriot Guard Riders. ory.com
