Clara Evelyn Patterson

November 2, 1932 — August 3, 2021

Clara Evelyn Patterson of Tulsa, OK died peacefully with family by her side at Saint Simeon's Senior Community at the age of 88.

Evelyn was born in 1932, to John and Clara Peetoom in Franks, MO. She was raised along with her two brothers Julius and Carl in White Oak, OK where she was fondly nicknamed "Teeny" by family and friends in her hometown. She was voted "Most Likely to Succeed" in her senior class and loved playing on the Girls Basketball Team while attending high school.

Evelyn married her first husband, Frankie Wright, after she graduated from White Oak High School and they moved to beautiful Coronado, CA. Together they had a son, Steven. As much as she loved the ocean and the palm trees she and Steven moved back to Oklahoma. After the two divorced, Evelyn met and married Gail Patterson and they moved to Tulsa, OK. They had two more children, Melissa and Lizabeth.

Evelyn was very busy with a family of 5 and taking care of everyone's needs. She was an excellent cook and loved making cherry cheesecake and deviled eggs for family gatherings. Her sewing skills were exceptional. She took great pride in her children, home and yard. Her love of gardening excelled when the family moved to Verdigris and her green thumb was proven over and over again as she planted beautiful trees and plants. The African violets inside her home were her favorites!

She decided to go back to work after all of her children were in school and worked at Safeway/Homeland for over 20 years.
Evelyn enjoyed music and going to concerts. Sonny & Cher, Alabama, Bee Gees, Conway Twitty, and Michael Bolton to name just a few. Her love for movies and going to the movie theater was so much fun for her. If she went to the drive-in theater she would make popcorn and put it into a brown paper bag for all of us to enjoy. Bottles of Coke were iced down too! She loved a big bonfire in her backyard. In fact, the bigger the better! She had a freezer full of Braum's ice cream and she looked forward to having a bowl every night. Evelyn was a generous, graceful and humble lady with a witty sense of humor and a twinkle in her eye. A wink from her always made you feel good and yes, she could be a little feisty.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gail and older brother Julius. She is survived by her son Steven and his wife Linda; daughters Melissa, and Lizabeth and her husband Charlie; four grandchildren Kevin, Ashley, Lauren and Richard; and younger brother Carl.

A Celebration of Life will be determined at a later date.
