Reverend Christopher “Chris” O. Harjo, Sr. Reverend Christopher “Chris” O. Harjo, Sr., a resident of Henryetta, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2011 at the age of 74. He was born July 4, 1936 to Mitchell and Louisa (Tiger) Harjo in Hanna, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Navy and on January 3, 1962, he married Katie (Clark) Harjo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell and Louisa Harjo; son, Christopher Harjo, Jr. I.; brother, Marsey Harjo, sister, Ruth Free and brother, Richmond Harjo. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Katie Harjo of the home; four children, Christopher Harjo Jr. II of Henryetta; Selina M. Harjo of Henryetta; Elmira Harjo-Peterson of Cleveland, Ok and Marceline Harjo-Leach of Girard, KS; one sister, Fannie Johnson of Okemah; two brothers, Sundea Harjo of Roanoke, TX and Albert Harjo of Okemah; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2011 at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Henryetta with Reverend Huston Tiger officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Tiger Family Cemetery in Hanna, Oklahoma under the direction of the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Henryetta. Visitation will be Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Henryetta. Pallbearers will be Damen Leach, Doug Morrison, Kolby Morrison, Adam Ortiz, Reggie Barcindebar and Robert Deer.
