Cheryl Judy Grayson

A funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Cheryl “Judy” Tarpalechee Grayson will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Big Cussetah United Methodist with pastors Amy Colbert and Gary Long officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 16, 2020 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Schaudt’s Okmulgee Funeral Service.

Cheryl “Judy” Tarpalechee Grayson was received into her heavenly home November 13, 2020 at the age of 75. She was born July 25, 1945­­ in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Henry and Elizabeth Tarpalechee.

She attended and graduated from Morris Public Schools, where she was known as a talented basketball player. She received her Associate’s in Accounting from OSU-Okmulgee. She worked for many years at the Muscogee (Creek) Nation in the Accounting Department and then with Environmental Services until she retired.

She was involved with the MCN Election Board, working the Twin Hills precinct where she was a proud community member.

She was active in her church, Big Cussetah United Methodist, and was a member of the United Methodist Women.

Judy liked to dance and was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, OU Sooners, OKC Thunder and New York Yankees. She loved spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren play sports. She was also a member of the Mvskoke Lady Legends.

She was affectionately known as Grandma Judy by not only her grandchildren, but also members of the community. She will be remembered dearly by lifelong friends and family through the memories shared during her lifetime.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Tommy Jo Grayson, sisters Twyla Beaver, Yannah Tarpalechee, and brother Yarme “Cheba” Tarpalechee.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Regina Keith and husband Charles of Okmulgee, Darrell Tarpalechee of Natura, Diana Beasley and spouse Robert Washington Jr. of Okmulgee, Justina Grayson of Okmulgee, stepsons Nolan Grayson and Tommy Grayson Jr. of Okmulgee, stepdaughter Michelle Brown of Preston, siblings: Henryetta Thomas and husband Kelly of Okmulgee, Tina Tarpalechee of Morris, Teresa Jennings of Okmulgee, and Edward “Bobo” Tarpalechee of Okmulgee, 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family whom she dearly loved.

Pallbearers include Blue Tarpalechee, Chance Beasley, Hunter Washington, Tony Berryhill, Brian Tarpalechee, Eddy Tarpalechee, Darin Tarpalechee, Jay Paul Tarpalechee and Kirby Jennings. Honorary Pallbearer, Buddy Beaver as well as alternate Pallbearers, Thunder Washington, Isaac Jennings, Sunecke Tarpalechee and Matt Osceola.

The family requests those attending the visitation and funeral service to wear a mask and to distance themselves safely from others. Thank you for your understanding.
