Charletta Peaker passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at the age of 69.
Born on December 5, 1955, in Denison, Texas, Charletta was the daughter of Johnny and Lola (Williams) Brooks. During her early childhood years, her family relocated to California near Bakersfield, where she graduated from Foothill High School.
It was in California that Charletta met the love of her life, James Peaker, after being set up by mutual friends. That fateful meeting led to a beautiful love story, and they married on October 9, 1976 in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1981, they moved to Oklahoma, where they built a loving home together.
Family was at the heart of everything Charletta did. She and James shared 36 wonderful years of marriage, raising their three children-Rickey, Jerry, and Lorie-while also opening their home to numerous foster children over the years. Her nurturing spirit and boundless love made a lasting impact on countless lives, specifically Daniel Hope and Robbin Plummer. Her compassion, selflessness, and incredible love was felt by every child fortunate enough to call her Mom.
Charletta found joy in the simple things-working on puzzles and crossword puzzles, watching Hallmark movies, traveling to new places, and caring for animals. She had a well-known sweet tooth, with a special fondness for Swiss Rolls, Buc-ee's cinnamon rolls, and Pepsi.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Peaker; her father, Johnny Brooks; her mother, Lola Farris; her stepfather, Morris Farris; and her brother, Johnny Brooks.
Charletta leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her family: her son, Rickey Peaker, and his wife, Maddie, of Bixby, OK, along with their children, Trey, James, Stella, and Kinley; her son, Jerry Peaker, and his wife, Lindsey, of Glenpool, OK, and their daughters, Amelia and Alba; her daughter, Lorie Peaker; her sisters, Sandy Bird, Shirley Berry and Judy Moore-Farris; her brother, Jesse Brooks; and many other beloved relatives and dear friends.
A funeral service to honor Charletta's life will be held at First Baptist Church of Jenks on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 10:00 AM, with Pastor Cody Brumley officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Bixby Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Brian Montonati, Tyler Mead, Dave Baker, Trey Peaker, Joseph Forrister, and Amelia Peaker.
