Charles William Murphy, also known as “Good Time Charlie”, passed away June 9th, 2017 at Hillcrest Medical Center. He was 77.
Charlie was born on August 19th, 1939 in Paris, Texas. He was the son of the late Peter Murphy and Alice Walton.
He served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After the military he received his associate’s degree from a college in California and then continued his education by attending a trade school to become a Paint Master.
Charlie was a Coal Miner for Sunshine Mine in Wallace, Idaho for fourteen years. He then moved and worked for the Cocoa Cola Distribution Center as a Paint Master where he retired after 10 years.
“Good Time Charlie” as many knew him by, enjoyed playing pool, fishing for catfish and writing poems. He will be remembered by having a good heart, being a good father, husband and a great grandfather.
Charlie is survived by his daughter, Lori Murphy; two son-in-laws, JW Kanmore and Houston Strome; his ex-wife, Delora Murphy; nine grandchildren, Chrystal Murphy, Carissa Peachy, Juliea Strome, Johnathan and Deranda Kanmore, Gregory, Jeffrey and James Wilson, and Justin Murphy; and 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his best friend, Penny Buckley.
Along with his parents, his was preceded in death by his wife, June Murphy; a daughter, Julie Murphy; a brother, Tully Murphy and a granddaughter, Deonna Peachy.
