Miller, Charles Dale, 88 – Tulsa
Charles D. Miller, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, died peacefully following a long illness on Sunday, Oct. 8th in Tulsa. Loving family members were with Mr. Miller when he passed. Mr. Miller was born in Morris, Oklahoma on April 28, 1929 to Charles Thomas Miller and Mildred (Benedum) Miller. He attended schools in Morris and nearby Eram, and spent time during his youth in Okmulgee.
Mr. Miller entered the U.S. Army in 1950, serving in Germany and rising to the rank of Sergeant. He was honorably discharged in 1952. He then settled in Wichita, KS, working for Boeing Aircraft Co. from 1954 to 1971, when he married LaVerne (Koeppel) Miller. He was employed from that time until his retirement in 1989 as a supervisor for the Kansas Turnpike Authority, based in Wichita. The couple spent their retirement years in Wichita and, later, Tulsa, where Charles had an extended, close family. Mrs. Miller died in 2005. Mr. Miller was a licensed pilot, an occasional gold and silver prospector and a dedicated history buff.
He is survived by his sister, Leona Ann Wiggs Newell of Tulsa, daughter Marcie McKenzie of Los Lunas, NM, son Rusty Russell of Nashville, TN, grandson James McKenzie of Albuquerque, NM, niece Diana Lynn Ball of Tulsa, nephews Brian D. Wiggs and Reverend David Wiggs, both of Tulsa, and three generations of family who adored him.
A private/family service is scheduled for Thursday, October 19th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association: https://www.alz.org/.
